How To Concentrate On Doing Homework: 5 Helpful Tricks

If you want to improve homework concentration, follow these 5 helpful tricks:

  1. Review the details of your assignment before you start. Do this each day when you sit down to work. Spend five minutes per day making sure you know what you are supposed to do, so that you do not end up wasting time later on doing the wrong task or writing the wrong answers.
  2. Keep a bottle of water nearby. When you are working staying hydrated will help hydrate your brain and your body. Dehydration takes away a great deal of focus because it drains your brain of the water that it needs. If you keep a water bottle on hand you can always stay hydrated and avoid this problem.
  3. It is important that you have a special study space. This worker space should be the one place that you turn to regularly when you study. This can be a desk in your bedroom, a nook in the library, a table at a local café, or a study room at school. The purpose is to find a place where you can work on interrupted. You might want to study at home but you may find that when you are home your mother consistently asks you to help her do chores or prepare dinner. This is a big distraction and you should try to avoid it if at all possible.
  4. When you are working it is important that you review your assignment details before you start on any task. You do not want to jump into an assignment only to find out 30 minutes into the task that you did something incorrectly. You can save yourself a great deal of time and effort by simply taking five minutes at the end of class or the beginning of your study. To review your notes and make sure that you thoroughly understand what you have to do. If you have any questions you should always ask your teacher immediately. There is no shame in not necessarily understanding a set of instructions.
  5. When you are working on your assignment you should highlight keywords in your instructions before you start. Look for words that give you direction. Look for words that tell you what time. , What events, what types of people, what chapters, or anything else that might limit the work you have to do.

Study regularly.

Do not try and rush through your work in one day. Instead make a specific time as your “homework time” and make it the same time each day.
